Are these not the two cutest, sweetest faces you've EVER seen??
My boys - Destin & Daniel...so precious.
This picture is tattooed in my mind. I think about it all the time.
These two entered my life when they were ages 2 & 1. I first started to baby-sit them and then became so in love with their family, that I spent as much time as I could with them. It was my second home and I cherished every minute I spent there.
We have so many great memories! To this day, every time I wear the color yellow, I think of Daniel who once picked out yellow pajamas for me with monkeys all over them because "Lellow" was his favorite color, and because I taught him to say at the zoo that "Those monkeys look just like me." (Imagine a 2 year old saying that in the cutest little southern drawl you've ever heard...heart melted.)
Or I think about 3 year old Destin who would stay awake until Daniel fell asleep and he saw my shadow pass by his door on my way to bed. He would jump from the top bunk and knock so sweetly on my door to ask if he could sleep in my room because his "bubba" was already asleep. And then he would always ask to "hold my hair" while he fell asleep. I never once said "no" to either of those requests. :)
But these cute little baby faces didn't stay babies (even though they both PROMISED me that once they turned eight, they would start going backwards on their birthdays!!)
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do for these boys!
But they grew up. And let me tell you, as wonderful as they were as little fellas, they are even more amazing teenagers and I love them to pieces!
In fact, this summer Daniel was baptized on July 15 and Destin preached his very first sermon on July 29th and once again, I was able to be home to witness it!! I could not have been more proud!
Destin titled his sermon "That Your Joy May Be Full" and used 1 John 1:1-10
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched —this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
Here are the five points of his message...
For your joy to be full you must:
1) Have eternal life (verse 1)
2) Tell others (verse 2)
3) Have fellowship with the Father, Son and Spirit (verse 3-4)
4) Meet the conditions of fellowship (verses 5-7)
5) Keep sin confessed (verses 8-10)
Destin did such a wonderful job letting the Lord use him. I can only imagine what great things he is going to do! I can't wait to see them. Maybe in a few years, he'll decide he wants to church plant in the Northwest...is it okay that I am just going to start praying for that right now? ;)
Have I said before how proud I am of these boys? I am...very much.
My joy is SO full!
I love you Destin & Daniel! You have such big pieces of my heart with you always.
Love,
Kitty
