It's Good to be Home...

After a long week of training in New Jersey and spending some time in New York City, we finally made it back home late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Flying across every time zone in the continental U.S. can really wear you out! We had such a great time being able to go into NYC and I'm really thankful that we had the opportunity. We didn't find the Cash Cab, but nevertheless, it was a fabulous trip. Here are a few more highlights...

Here we are waiting to go inside the theater...it was an amazing show!

A last look at Times Square...

Some of my new friends from training...they are great!

New York Cheesecake never tasted so good!

I found a store full of Yankee stuff...I knew Mom would love this picture!

We had a great dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square...our last night in NYC.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Next to Ireland itself, New York is probably the second best place to be on St. Patrick's Day. Even though we didn't get to be among the 10,000 people who lined the streets to watch the parade today, we did get to see St. Patrick's Cathedral when we took the bus tour on Sunday. Just thought I'd share a picture of it with you.

This is an old immigration building on Ellis Island. Our tour guide told us that around 40% of the American population can trace their heritage back to this building!

We're in NYC!

We went on our tour in NYC yesterday and had such a great time! We saw so many things that until now were only pictures from a book or images from the tv. It was amazing! I'm still looking for my favorite taxi...maybe I'll have better luck Thursday night! Here are a few of our highlights...

The Statue of Liberty

The Empire State Building

Ground Zero, where construction on the Freedom Tower has started...amazing

A bit of the NYC Skyline with New Jersey to the left

That's Brooklyn Behind Us

Live From Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza...that's the Today Show set!

We're Going on a Trip

Since we've moved to Washington, there are so many things that have happened in our lives that only God could have done. What's about to happen is one of those things. Because we moved to Washington, and because Washington has a complicated process for teaching certification, and because God gave me a job at Huntington Learning Center, we are going to New Jersey for a week! My work is sending me to NJ for some corporate training, and we'll only be about 10 minutes from the Big Apple, so Derek is taking a week off and we're going on a trip to New York City! These pictures are obviously not mine, but I hope we have lots to share with you this time next week!

Even though it will be a busy training week for me, we still have a few things planned to do while we are there. Here are a couple of those things...

We've booked a 5 and 1/2 hour tour with a bus company that will show us all of NYC. There are more than 60 stops on this tour, and even a trip on the Staten Island Ferry that will pass right by the Statue of Liberty! We figured it was the most efficient way for us to get to see everything we want to see in such a short time.

On Thursday night, we have tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway! We love the movie and can't wait to see the Broadway show!

And finally....

Nothing would make me happier than to catch a ride in the Cash Cab! I'm definitely going to be looking for it amongst the thousands of taxis in NYC. Keep your phones on, I may need you for my mobile shout out! =)
