Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Lately we've had some pretty crazy and unpredictable weather...bits of sunshine followed by blasts of rain (and sometimes hail) and then drops in temperature...and that's in no particular order. Needless to say, it has been next to impossible to plan anything outdoors, so we've found ourselves inside alot. I have definitely been getting cabin fever, so after a rainy Saturday afternoon, it seemed as though the sky was going to stay pretty clear and I just had to get out. We looked online and saw that a baseball game was probably our best outdoor option.

I love everything about baseball...live baseball that is. TV sports are pretty boring for me (sorry Mom), but I love a live game. And for me, it doesn't get any better than baseball. I love everything about it...the sights, the sounds, the ballpark food, everything. I love when the wave goes across the stands, singing during 7th inning stretch, watching people be ridiculously goofy just to try to get on camera, and most of all, the sport itself. Rather than pay a small fortune to watch the Seattle Mariners lose, we opted for our local minor league team instead. And they did not disappoint...we had a great time!

What is a Rainier you might ask?

Well, this is not exactly it. This is Rhubarb the Reindeer...Rainier comes from our beautiful Mt. Rainier :)

Look who they were playing!! It was a happy surprise!

Yep, it says NOLA on that jersey.

A baseball first for me...hot chocolate in May!

I love a baseball date :)

Rainiers win! We would've been happy either way, better luck next time Z's.

My Favorite Children's Books

I really enjoy reading the blogs of other people, some that I know, and some that I don't. One blog that I enjoy reading is Kelly's Korner . Every Friday she does a special "Show Us Your Life" post, and I just couldn't resist the most recent one...Show Us Your Favorite Books! This appeals to me on so many levels, mostly it's the teacher in me and avid children's book fan that I am. I have SO many favorites, but I've narrowed it down to just a few. Here they are...

There are other books in this series, such as "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" and "If You Give a Pig a Pancake" but this one tops them all for me!

I love, love, love any and all Amelia Bedelia books, and I have definitely related to her more times than I'd like to admit =)

Who doesn't love Morris? I especially loved "Morris the Moose Goes to School."

Ahh...Frog and Toad...I used to know this book word for word.

I fell in love with this book when I first became interested in teaching. I can't tell you how many lesson plans and units I did with this book alone.

I discovered this book and its author during my last year in college. It makes for a wonderful first read at the beginning of every school year. My favorite follow up activity is to have the kids describe a way that they are different...precious.

Finally, my all-time favorite...Charlotte's Web. My heart melts just looking at the cover. My friend Terry is currently reading this to her three year old and he is loving it. I actually feel a bit jealous because Kade is getting to hear the story for the first time and I remember my second grade teacher reading it aloud to us and hearing it for the first time...sweet, sweet memories. I even had my Mom buy me the book since the teacher just wasn't reading fast enough for me and I had to know the entire story. I think I'm going to go read it again right now =)

Meet Rudy

So, I spent all day Thursday feeling very sad when I looked at Leo's empty fish bowl. I was ready to find a replacement. And although my sweet in-laws informed me that they would prefer a replacement that walks on two legs and breathes air, and calls them MawMaw and PawPaw, Derek and I are not quite there yet, but are more than happy to give them a new grandfish instead =)

I decided to let Thursday be Leo's day, and set out Friday in search of a new fish. I had it all planned out...this time, I wanted to buy a red female beta fish so that I could name her "Ruby." However, when I got to Pet Smart, the salesman told (and showed) me that female betas are much smaller and therefore not as colorful, so I decided to go with a bright red male and change the name to "Rudy." So without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to Rudy, the red fish.

Farewell to Leo

Sadly, we must report that our dear fish Leo is now deceased. I found him upside down in his bowl earlier today. We gave him a proper burial at sea, but we are very sad that all we have now is an empty fish bowl. Leo was a great fish, and a great traveler (he made the drive from Louisiana to Washington with us). Farewell Leo, Rest In Peace

I Just Couldn't Wait To Tell You!!

So, it's pretty late here in Washington, but I'm having a hard time going to sleep because it was such an incredible night at Life Church! We had our first baptisms and it was just such a Spirit-filled night. Hope you enjoy these pictures!

It was a pretty full house at Life Church tonight!

Kyle gave a special sermon on baptism for our "Going Public" night

Emilie leading in worship

I just love that this lady was "going public" with her worship

Several people from Sunbreak joined us and made it standing room only

Here are the beautiful ladies awaiting their baptisms...Lucy, Michelle, and Jenny

Lucy giving a thumbs up =)

Michelle was so incredibly excited!

Jenny didn't let her fear of water stop her =)

What an awesome crowd to witness our ladies "going public!"

Kade & Ryne checking out the baptism (well, Ryne checking out his jacket's zipper =)

Will (Michelle's Oldest Son), John, & Corbin (Jenny's Oldest) were ready to cheer on the ladies...and yes, they cheered and cheered!

It's a Life Kids Train!

What a night!! I guess I'll be going off to bed now, but I just couldn't wait to tell you about the great things God is doing in DuPont!
