Church Music and Life Parties

Derek and I had a super great treat Saturday night. One of our favorite Christian bands was coming to a nearby town and we decided to go with some of our friends to check out the concert. First I must say that I really do enjoy concerts, even though I can't remember the last time I've been to one. I love Christian concerts because it is one of my favorite ways to worship, but even with Christian artists, you sometimes get more of the light show than the Jesus show. Now, I must say that I have NEVER been led closer to the throne of God through Christian music than at the concert we went to on Saturday night. What a worship fest! If this tour comes anywhere near your town, I hope you get the chance to go, and I hope your heart worships our amazing Father while you are there! My heart is still singing.

Our second treat of the weekend came Sunday night. Life Church has its first Life Party at Kyle and Terry's house. We invited all of those who have been to our services or Bible studies and asked them to bring friends. We had a great turnout and just spent the evening hanging out together. We had tons of yummy food, played some games, and just got to know our fellow Life Churchers. We're still blown away by what God is doing in our city and we know the best is yet to come!

Little People, Big Fun!

So, I'm a big fan of TLC's Little People, Big World. I was very excited to learn that their pumpkin farm is only a couple of hours away in Oregon and couldn't wait until this month because that is the only month the farm is open to the public. So since Derek and I both had the day off yesterday (and because the weather was cooperative), we decided to go check it out. Here's a bit of what we saw...

Entrance to the Farm

Roloff Farms

Lots and lots of pumpkins

One of the Roloff twins (Zach) driving a tractor tour. We also saw the other twin, Jeremy, driving a couple of tours as well. In addition to the twin Roloffs, we also saw Matt (the dad) and Molly (the daughter) while we were there...pretty neat!

Here we are enjoying our tour of the Roloff property

Western Town! Our tour stopped here and we were able to explore and chat with Matt's parents, Pa and Honey.

The newly remodeled Roloff house

This is the wood shop where Matt does all his collecting for his many infamous "projects."

This is the completed Castle that was built over the last 10 years for Molly.

They are currently filming new episodes for the show so we spotted a few of the camera crew.

We left our mark, as well as our hometown, on the map in Western Town.

There was so much to do on the farm; from picking pumpkins to visiting "Zootica" the petting zoo, to enjoying some freshly popped kettle corn. The family members that we did encounter were so friendly and so appreciative of everyone who was there. They were always smiling and thanking everyone for coming and being very cooperative with fans who wanted a picture. Roloff Farms was alot of fun and I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't make another trip before the pumpkin season is over...

Life Church in October

So if you read the previous post about our first Life Church service, you know how incredibly blown away we were at what God did that night! This past Sunday, October 4, I think it's safe to say we were blown away again. Although the crowd was a little, and only a little, smaller in size, we actually had some first-timers...new faces! Our "Gym Church" was full of little guys again and our coffee shop was full of people who got to hear about Jesus...how awesome is our God?!?

The series that Kyle is preaching is called "No Perfect People Allowed." This month's particular message was called "How Good is Good Enough?" Lots of people think about heaven, lots of people wonder if they will get in, but not so many people know the WAY to heaven, which is through the blood of Jesus...any other way is IMPOSSIBLE!! We are so blessed that God sent us 30 something people to hear about the WAY!

Here's another thing in particular that I thought was neat about Sunday night. The coffee shop where we are meeting actually closes to the public at 6:00 so that we can have our service. Of course, the doors aren't locked, but we do have greeters and signs in place to let everyone know what is going on. However, last Sunday night, there was some miscommunication and as a result, 9 coffee customers wondered in throughout the service, all at different times.

At first, it seemed a bit distracting, as they had to walk right in front of Kyle to place their orders, but then I began to really notice although those customers came in for coffee, they were listening and watching what was going on at Life Church! And although they placed their orders and were only in the coffee shop for about 5 or 10 minutes, they heard 5 or 10 minutes of the WAY that they may not have heard otherwise. I just have to think that God sent those particular people to that particular coffee shop at that particular time for a reason and that He has a plan for them, and who knows...maybe it involves Life Church!

"It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow." 1 Corinthians 3:7

Please Pray for Life Church!!

So we've got a few weeks until our next service on November 1st, when this "No Perfect People Allowed" series will conclude. Please, please, please pray for the city of DuPont. We know God is working in the hearts of people in our city!

Right after our service ended, a lady came in with her three small children to order coffee. We later learned that this lady, whose name is Lisa, very recently lost her husband in Iraq. Will you please join Life Church in praying for Lisa? And along those lines, we have several army wives at Life Church who know that their husbands don't know the WAY and are facing bullets everyday. Please pray for these families and for opportunities for Life Church to minister to them.
